the demolition work occurring at this address is generating uncontained dust that is migrating to adjacent properties and the public way. one of the paint crew stated that testing was done and there is no lead. the inspector asked for the test results and they could not be produced. the crew was told not to start work on monday, june 9 without the documentation from a certified laboratory demonstrating that there is no lead based paint. this structure at 1040 golden gate avenue, san francisco, ca is a pre-1978 structure and so this debris is presumed to contain lead. to continue work as currently conducted, provide certification from a qualified lead testing laboratory to show the debris has no lead base. without this clearance report you shall comply with the balance of this notice of violation.

remove all visible debris from these areas. initial clean up should be done with an epa certified hepa vacuum cleaner. do not sweep, this causes the particulate to break up and become air borne. once all dry dust has been removed, a wet dusting should be conducted in all work areas until the wet rag is relatively clean. debris shall be double bagged and duct taped and disposed of in an approved manner. lead debris is a toxic hazard and must be disposed of as such.
