note: on reinspection day, property manager, owner or the owner's agent needs to demonstrate the workability of the fire escape ladders. the fire escapes are to be checked on all buildings during the course of a routine inspection. non-working fire escape ladder is a life safety hazard and must be corrected immediately. provide a written and signed report from a qualified service company or contractor stating that all parts and cables have been tested and are functional or you are required to lower the ladder on re-inspection day to verify its proper full release. reminder: test and verify that all windows or doors leading to emergency fire escape are operational and unobstructed. advise occupants not to block the path of emergency exits on the inside. **reminder**all manufacturers recommend that the fire escape drop ladder be maintained and serviced annually, particularly the cable and all moving parts. lubricate and drop the ladder at least once a year.
